Description
Starting from Fischingen Monastery, a gem among Swiss architectural monuments, a well-distributed ascent through shaded forests leads up to the ridge, at 991 meters above sea level the highest point in Thurgau. The hike is designed to let you experience the characteristic features of the pre-alpine hill landscape in the border region of the cantons of Thurgau, St. Gallen, and Zurich. Sections alternate between varied wooded areas and ridge trails, which repeatedly offer breathtaking views.
Past the deeply gaping gorge of the Murg with rugged rock walls, the path continues to the simple forest chapel dedicated to Saint Idda. Then, with a panoramic view towards Lake Constance and the Hegau volcanic landscape, the path leads back to Fischingen Monastery. A visit to the monastery is worthwhile.
