Description

This stage of the circular hiking route starts at the train station in Altnau and first leads up to the village center. Then wide fields are crossed and typical local orchards – around 300,000 apple trees stand in Altnau – are passed. Next comes the village Herrenhof, then a wooded area and the Emmerzer pond. This is privately owned, but depending on the season, you can still catch a glimpse of the quite idyllic pond through the bushes.

Then it goes again through fields and wooded areas to Illighausen and finally to Siegershausen. A village with an interesting detail: one in every ten Swiss raclette cheeses comes from Strähl Käse in Siegershausen. In the factory shop, unchanged since 1954, the specialties can be bought directly from the cheese cellar. This is located right opposite the station, which is the end of this route.
