Through the Freiberge to Mont Soleil

From Les Reussilles station, first go a bit northeast and you will see in a hollow the stately farms of Le Cernil. Then you turn west, cross the road leading to Saignelégier, and follow the peat bog La Tourbière through the forest. On indistinct trail traces, you cross the terrain hollow of La Chaux to the houses of Les Paigres. Then you continue on the main road to the station of Les Breuleux. Without crossing the railway line, follow the road to the hamlet of Les Vacheries. The landscape ahead is a true visiting card of the Freiberge: open forests and Jura pastures dotted with mighty firs alternate in a soothing rhythm. Only the 2 km long paved section at the beginning impairs this enjoyment. Forests and pastures are crossed partly off-trail in a southerly direction. Fortunately, steeper climbs are mostly in the forest. Passing the farm Les Allevaux, you reach the ridge of Mont Soleil. From there, go past the solar power station down to the mountain station of the St-Imier–Mont Soleil funicular.
