Description
With the world’s largest and steepest funicular built for tourist purposes, Schwyz - Stoos, or the small aerial cableway Morschach - Stoos, you reach after a few minutes of riding the car-free holiday and leisure paradise Stoos at 1300 m above sea level. After 20 minutes’ walk through the mountain village you reach the chairlift to the Klingenstock summit. There starts the scenic ridge trail leading westward to the Rot Turm and the Nollen. The ascent to the Huserstock can be made in addition or you can continue directly down to the Furggeli. Partially, the developed trail was carved into the rock and secured with chains. At the old alpine hut in Furggeli the final ascent to the Fronalpstock begins. At the highest restaurant of the canton of Schwyz you can relax and marvel at the unique panorama as well as the unobstructed view down to the historic Rütli meadow. During the ride with the comfortable chairlift from Fronalpstock back to Stoos you enjoy the view of the mountains around the Schwyz basin and into the rustic Muotathal. Those who want to combine the Stoos ridge trail and the breathtaking view of the Central Swiss mountains and lakes region with more physical activity can skip the chairlift rides and use the hiking trails.
