Description
This route is dedicated to water. Up to Burgäschi, it runs on the SchweizMobil veloroute 802. The first meters in Solothurn lead downstream along the Aare to the bicycle and pedestrian bridge. Via Zuchwil you reach Derendingen, where at the entrance you cross the renatured Emme. At the latest in Subingen, the rural character of the Wasseramt district becomes evident. The water tower of Etziken rises visibly from the forest from afar. It supplies all households in the region with sufficient water.
Shortly after Aeschi, the Burgäschisee with a restaurant, bathing area, and boat rental beckons. Just 21 hectares in size, it is the largest lake in the canton of Solothurn. On the Steinhof you reach the highest point of the route. The largest boulder in the Swiss Plateau weighs 3,500 tons and was once left there by the Rhone glacier. A place of power. The view of the Jura and Alps is breathtaking. The route continues over fields, hills, and forests. The tower of Halten with its museum invites you to an exciting intermezzo about the simple life of the ancestors. At the edge of the village, you cross the Oesch. From Biberist to Derendingen you are accompanied by the Emme in its new riverbed on SchweizMobil route 44. Back at the Aare you enjoy the skyline of Solothurn. Time for an aperitif.
