T3 Castle Trail Zweisimmen – small circular hike

Welcome to the land of counts, knights, and castles. A time long ago, yet still very close to many during childhood. The Obersimmental is a beautiful landscape with a historical heart. For the two former castles on the Mannenberg and the parish church of Zweisimmen testify to its great significance. Historians suspect that as early as the early Middle Ages, a castle stood on the Mannenberg and was the center of power when the Simmental still belonged to the Burgundian royal estate. At the Iron Knight at Zweisimmen station, a journey through time begins that leads through a landscape full of stories. Finally, upon arriving at Mannenberg, the medieval world emerges with the renovated ruins of Mannberg Castle. The 14 panels along the castle trail enrich personal memories with exciting information about the individual places and buildings of that time.
