Surselva hut route Flims - Siat (Stage 1)

The stage starts in Flims right away with two highlights: the idyllic Caumasee and the viewing platform in Conn. Caumasee is considered one of the most popular swimming lakes in Graubünden, and from the spectacular viewing platform, there is an exceptional view down into the Rhine Gorge. After Conn, you climb up on the south side of the ridge to Laax Murschetg and then mostly follow gravel roads along the signposted mountain bike route to Falera. Here is the starting point for the climb to Alp Dadens. 500 meters of ascent on gravel road lead up to Alp Dadens; after that, the route continues on a trail, climbing relentlessly for a short time. An additional 150 meters of elevation must be managed this way until the highest point is reached just below Alp da Schnaus. A mix of singletrails and gravel roads then leads deep into Val da Siat, with another 100 meters of ascent near the end of the stage up to the village of Siat. Here, the aperitif at Ustria Staila is well deserved.
