Sunnbüel - Spittelmatte high trail

Cross-country skiers with good downhill technique start the route at the mountain station. For weaker skiers, however, we recommend walking down the first steep descent.

The 5 km (depending on snow conditions between 3.5 - 8 km) circular route runs flat on the Spittelmatte at the foot of the Altels and offers a breathtaking experience in Kandersteg. 

In combination with a Kandersteg regional cross-country pass, we offer a connecting subscription for the aerial cableway for the 2023/24 winter season at an attractive CHF 80.00.  In combination with a trail pass, we offer our cross-country skiers reduced prices for the return trip with the Kandersteg-Sunnbüel aerial cableway. Available at the ticket office at the Sunnbüel valley station.

Cross-country skiing is an ideal endurance sport for people – and also for your dog. Your four-legged friend is welcome on this trail. Please pick up your dog's waste, do not let it run free, and be considerate of other cross-country skiers. There is an annual pass for your dog for CHF 15.00. Available at the ticket office at the Sunnbüel valley station. 

At the mountain station, there is a changing room, storage lockers, and showers available to you.
