Snowshoe tour between Melchsee and Tannensee

This classic snowshoe tour starts at the top station of the Melchsee-Frutt cable car, which is easily accessible from Stöckalp. First, the trail leads along the shores of the snow-covered Melchsee lake to the striking panoramic lift, where the first vantage point offers a view of the Obwalden mountain panorama. The route remains exciting and varied throughout: from the chapel on the peninsula, the trail continues along wide winter paths, past the Distelboden mountain hotel, up towards Erzegg and then on towards Lake Tannen. The route climbs over open slopes and slowly gains altitude.

Following the snowshoe trail, you reach the Tannalp after a good hour, a picturesque place with refreshments available at the Berggasthaus Tannalp. A little way from the lakeshore, you return to the starting point at the mountain station, where there are numerous opportunities to stop for refreshments or to warm up.
