Description

From the starting point, we first walk on the access road for 10 minutes to the Naturfreundehaus Fronalp. Then, along an easy winter hiking trail/ski slope, ascend to Mittler Stafel of the Fronalp. From Mittler Stafel head southeast through a small high plateau, then steeply over shrubs into a hollow that leads to the passage between Färistock and Heustöckli. Then ascend southeast over open terrain to the foot of the Siwellen (P. 2226), under which the steep terrain (about 30 degrees) is crossed to the west. Now to the northeast ridge of the Schilt and along this to the summit. At the small iron summit cross, a wonderful view of the Glarus Alps and the Linth region awaits us. The descent is via the same route (possibly with a few shortcuts through the deep snow).
