Description
The bike tour starts in the middle of Sils Maria, on the romantic village square where the horse-drawn carriages are waiting for the guests, who want to experience the beautiful side valley of the Engadin with horsepower. With the bike you trample uphill on the carriage road, past the imposing and historical landmark of Sils, the Hotel Waldhaus, which is enthroned prominently above the village on a wooded rock nose, towards Val Fex. Passing the fractions Vaüglia and Fex Platta, you reach Fex Crasta, the main hamlet of the valley. In addition to the pretty and historically valuable little mountain church, there are also two inns here. The many Bovis units in this place of power give you strength for the journey on. After a short rest downhill, the carriage road then leads uphill again. Always accompanied by the roaring Fedacla river, past individual houses through the hamlet of Cristins, you reach the Hotel Fex. Turn right at the Sar Antoni mountain farm and take the Alp road up to Alp da Segl. The museum of the Cheva Plattas da Fex is also in the immediate vicinity. In the past, men from the neighbouring Val Malenco used to mine the famous Fexer plates in this area in winter, in hard manpower, with which the roofs were covered in Sils. A visit to the restored quarry house and the accompanying exhibition is definitely worthwhile. We continue on the path high above the valley floor from Alp to Alp. Once you reach Alp Muot Selvas, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the impressive Plaun Vadret plain, the striking valley floor and the surrounding glacier mountains. The return journey is along the direct alpine path to the Hotel Fex and from there along the carriage road in a rapid descent back to Sils Maria.
