Description
Streams play an important role in the history of Kreuzlingen. It is well known that the city developed from the merger of the three villages Egelshofen, Kurzrickenbach and Emmishofen. What they have in common is that their origin lies at streams. The city of Kreuzlingen has created three themed paths along the streams Chogenbach, Saubach and Schoderbach, which visitors can explore on foot and partially by bike.
More than 100 years ago, streams were routed underground along most stretches. It has now been recognized that they are more than drainage channels and fulfill various functions. The city of Kreuzlingen has been making great efforts for years to uncover the urban streams again. The "city stream" Schoderbach is being reopened according to the water body development concept. In addition to the ecological upgrading, flood protection is also a focus in the various stream sections.
