Description
Original route: 54 km and 3,900 m of elevation gain.
It starts in Tesserete, a picturesque village near Lugano. It follows ancient trails leading to alpine pastures where people lived from pastoralism, raising cows and goats. A Capuchin monastery from 1535, farms, huts, and mountain villages complete this idyllic scene. The uniqueness of this panoramic route is that it mainly follows the grassy ridges of the natural amphitheater surrounding the region. During the run, you can always see both the part already covered and the part yet to be tackled. The difference looking northwards towards Locarno and Bellinzona is spectacular, where towering mountains with sharp profiles dominate, and then turning your gaze south, characterized by the lakes Ceresio and Lario as well as gentle wooded hills. The Scenic Trail has been awarded by many experienced runners the title of the most beautiful run in the circuit, precisely because of its breathtaking panoramas.
