Description
The hike begins in the village of Andeer and initially leads through the grounds of the Conrad granite works, where the distinctive Rofna porphyry is processed – better known as the characteristic Andeer granite. Soon you enter quiet forest passages, accompanied by fascinating glacial grooves and the mysterious cup stones of Arsiert – enigmatic signs of a long past time that invite you to marvel and pause.
A first view opens over the Schams valley before descending to the roaring Rofflaschlucht. The impressive waterfall was developed for tourism by the Andeer returnee Christian Pitschen – inspired by the Niagara Falls. Those interested can visit the small museum inside the rock.
After a short section along the A13, you pass the historic Schmelza, where ores were once smelted. Soon after, the bouldering paradise Magic Wood beckons: moss-covered boulders in a fairytale-like forest, animated by international climbers.
It becomes quieter at the forest clearing Pro sur Ragn. Over two footbridges and a narrow bridge, you reach the idyllic Ausserferrera (1300 m). Here, the Edelweiss inn surprises with fine local and Greek cuisine.
The last section leads through sparse mountain pine forest, past a power station and spectacular glacial mills, before reaching the highest point at about 1500 m. From there, a gentle descent leads to Innerferrera, where the stage ends in alpine tranquility.
