Description

Three routes of different lengths lead to the remains of the medieval castle ruins. Various rest areas with barbecue sites and several inns along the way make walking the ruin trails an experience for young and old and the whole family. All three route variants can be found here

The route described here is the large ruin trail, which takes about three hours from Kradolf to the three historically significant castle ruins. The first to be passed, the Anwil ruin, must have already stood by the mid-13th century. Today, parts of the distinctive tower and the former castle trench are still visible. A paved path leads from the road up to the castle hill, where an information board provides details.

Mysterious is the Heuberg ruin lying in the forest, about whose history little is known anymore, and which received its current name from the field name of the hill on which it stands. The Last ruin, meanwhile, was already mentioned in documents in 1159; servants of the Bishop of Konstanz stayed here. The ruin was named Last after the neighboring farm and thanks to the efforts of volunteers, it was renovated from 1974 to 1983.
