Rüti – Ghöch – Wappenswil «Scenic route around the Bachtel»

After an initial steep climb behind Rüti station, the route leads via Fägswil, past the Oswald fruit farm farm shop, on picturesque and low-traffic side roads to Wald. After crossing the Jona and a short section on Bachtelstrasse, the route offers, in good weather, a wonderful panoramic view of Speer, Federispitz and the Glärnisch massif. After a hilly section, always above the main road, the route heads towards Gibswil, where a challenging climb towards Bachtel follows. A rapid descent to Girenbad and Gibswil follows, before the last sharp climb awaits in Wernetshausen. Over playful descents, past Hasenstrick towards Dürnten, the route ends again at Rüti station. The view of the upper Lake Zurich, the Oberland, and, in good visibility, up to the Rigi is fantastic. The route is suitable for e-bikes and athletically ambitious people. A good basic fitness level is required.
