Romans and Habsburgs in Vindonissa

From Brugg station, it is a short walk to the Königsfelden monastery church, where school classes visit the memorial site of the Habsburgs. The Königsfelden monastery was built in 1310 on the site where King Albert I of Habsburg was murdered by his nephew Johannes. The three-nave monastery church contains world-famous stained glass windows in the High Gothic style and served as a burial site for the Habsburgs. For schools, there is a one-and-a-half-hour guided tour or an option for an independent tour.

From the Middle Ages, the journey continues further back in time. Up to 6,000 soldiers occasionally recovered here from the hardships of war. On the Legionary Trail, school classes can slip into the role of Roman legionaries during game routes and workshops. Those who want to stay longer can spend the night in the reconstructed Contubernia (legionary accommodation).
