Description
The starting point is the train station in Frinvillier. Heading west, you soon reach the Schüss (La Suze) and the long-distance trail ViaBerna, marked as Route 38. The hiking trail then follows the canal of the power plant to the entrance of the gorge. It soon becomes narrower and the water wilder. Deep green moss and stones covered with lichens line the river. The hiking trail crosses the water several times. Afterwards, high rock walls appear announcing the most beautiful section of the gorge. Here, the path is cut into the rocks and leads high above the water through tunnels and galleries. Depending on the light incidence, mystical moments can be experienced. Walking towards the light, you leave the gorge and enter the city of Biel-Bözingen. Continuing along Route 38, a hiking and cycling path leads along the Schüss through a partly newly designed riverside and recreational landscape towards Biel. Past the extraordinary building of a watch company and further along the Schüss, you reach the waterfront facilities on Lake Biel. The train station is not far away.
