Ridge hike Oensingen-Balmberg

Ascent from Oensingen railway station past Leenflue towards Schwengimatt. View of the industrially shaped Klus and Balsthal. The steep rock walls of the Klus are a paradise for climbers. Past the Berggasthof Schwengimatt, follow SwitzerlandMobil Route 5 towards Hellchöpfli. To the south, the densely populated Central Plateau opens up. To the north, the view falls into the rural Thal Nature Park. Shortly before the summit of Hellchöpfli (1232 m above sea level), a well-developed military road appears out of nowhere, indicating a former military base. From Hinteregg, follow a narrow ridge to shortly before Hofbergli. Fantastic views of the Central Plateau and the Alps. Before Hofbergli, a final ascent to Chambenflue, whose crossing requires surefootedness. Via Niederwiler Stierenberg, past the climbing park. Descent to the PostBus stop at Kurhaus Balmberg.
