Description
On this stage, the route mainly follows the wide Lake Constance, where orchards and castles adorn the shores of the green and silvery shimmering "Swabian Sea." The route has practically no climbs. At the beginning, it leads along the Rhine Delta and the old Rhine. Subsequently, the lakeside towns of Rorschach, Arbon, and Romanshorn are passed.
Starting from Kreuzlingen, the route passes through Gottlieben and Ermatingen across the lovely landscape along the elongated Lower Lake. A detour to Arenenberg is worthwhile not only because of the Napoleon Museum. The breathtaking view and the magnificent gardens are also ideal for a short break. Then it continues via Steckborn and Mammern to the town of Stein am Rhein. Finally, the route leads first to Diessenhofen and then to Schaffhausen.
