Rhine Gorge Circular Hike

The start of the hike is in the village of Versam. Past the church, the path leads into the nearby forest with beautiful old beech trees. You already catch a first glimpse of the Rhine Gorge. Soon you reach the road. Follow it for a short distance to the Islabord viewing platform, which is stylishly set in the landscape. From the platform, walk a few steps back and follow the forest path towards Chrummwag. Soon, a path leads deeper and deeper into the Rhine Gorge until you eventually walk directly along the Rhine. The scenery is fascinating here, always close to the water and framed by steep rock faces; the path leads via Versam station through pine forests, along gravel banks to the junction towards Carrera. Here you ascend to the hamlet of Carrera. Through forest and over meadows, it goes slightly up and down back to Versam.
