RadTourenFinder Lörrach Tour 2: Rund um Basel
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
This tour is particularly varied: from Lörrach it leads through Riehen, an obviously affluent suburb of Basel. The Rhine is crossed for the first time at the Birsfelden power station and you cycle to the left of the Rhine past the remains of the old Basel city wall through the St. Alban Graben towards the cathedral and the old town.
Continuing along the Rhine, you take the newly designed Rhine riverside path to Hüningen in France. The Rhine is crossed for the second time via the Dreiländerbrücke bridge, which is the longest self-supporting pedestrian and cycle bridge in the world. After a short visit to Germany, you return to Switzerland. If you want, you can make a detour to the border triangle: the point where the borders of the three countries Germany-Switzerland-France meet. The route leads back along the water again: this time it is the meadow. Initially very urban under the motorway bridge, later a beautifully wooded path, past the Lange Erlen zoo, until you reach Lörrach-Stetten again via Riehen and the tour ends in the town centre.
