Planet Trail Glarus

Description
The nearly 40-minute path (one way) provides a tangible overview of the size relationships in the solar system. In contrast to the sun with about 70 cm diameter, the earth is only a 6 mm small ball. On the planet trail, the distance from the sun to the earth is only 75 m. The planets Mercury and Venus are already included. The distance between the last two planets Uranus and Neptune, however, is 814 m, which is well over one third of the entire trail length.
The Glarus Planet Trail runs along the Linth on its right bank on the marked easy hiking trail from the Yellow Factory in Mollis (behind the residential block Erlenstrasse 25) to the dam in Netstal. The route measures 2.25 km. A few steps away from the outermost planet location Neptune in Netstal, at the southern end of the airfield, there is a free parking lot. Limited parking spaces are also available at the beginning of the path near the Yellow Factory in Mollis. The return path can be chosen as a nice circular route on the other side of the Linth.
