Description

From Oberneunforn, the hiking trail leads south to Niederneunforn. 700 meters after the start, the large vineyard hike begins along the well-known Iselisberg. On this high route, you enjoy unique views of the Thur valley and the distant Alps. Do you see the many beautiful vineyard huts?

The path now leads, partly through cool, botanically rich forest, to the former Carthusian monastery Kartause Ittingen in Warth. After the monastery was dissolved in 1848, the buildings went into private ownership. Today, the Kartause Foundation runs the lively cultural and conference center, a restaurant and a shop, and houses the Thurgau Art Museum and the Ittinger Museum.

Next, you continue through the floodplain area of the Thur. The once canalized river has been renatured. There are many discoveries to be made here, and also traces of beavers can be found.

The hiking trail crosses the Thur on the Rohrer Bridge and follows the Murg through the military training area to Frauenfeld train station. The hike ends in the capital of Thurgau.
