Description
At the starting point of the hike, take the path towards Chapfwald. From the main road, the route turns right. After the school building, a footpath next to the Biglebach is reached after a few steps. A short distance is on the roadway, then the route continues on a field path. First along the forest edge, later ascending through forest and meadows past two farms, you reach Chapfwald and join national Route 3, the Alpine Panorama Route. Here, turn towards the intermediate destination Grosshöchstetten. After leaving the forest, the view opens onto the Jura, Gurten, Bantiger, and the Alps. Along the forest edge, the section is playfully like looking through a tunnel tube: individual peaks like Stockhorn appear. Suddenly, you arrive at the hilltop. The panorama panel shows over 100 peaks. The rest area of the local association Oberthal is conveniently located here; the abbreviation OVO reminds of the short form of Dr. Wander's malt beverage. If you are not replenished, at least refreshed, you now tackle the next two intermediate destinations, Grosshöchstetten and Ballebüel. The first is reached shortly downhill through the forest, then over meadows and roads. Ascending first, then on level paths past Hötschige, you reach Ballebüel. A panorama panel here explains the view, also showing over 100 elevations: The Alps, the Jura, or the Längenberg in its full length. Descending, mostly on hard surfaces, with short sections on footpath or forest paths, the route leads to the destination at Tägertschi train station. Refreshing on the terrace of the station restaurant rounds off the hiking experience with a view of the Stockhorn range.
