Description
From Ilanz (698 m above sea level), the first town on the Rhine, you roll upstream along the Vorderrhein. In Danis (845 m above sea level), the route turns right and climbs briefly and steeply towards the idyllic villages of Capeder and Schlans (1153 m above sea level). The short descent to Trun (855 m above sea level) lets you recharge your energy. From Trun, it goes briefly downhill before the road to Obersaxen turns off to the right. The climb is steady, and steep ramps are nowhere to be found. The beautiful tight switchbacks invite you to pedal standing up, but be careful: about four hundred meters of altitude have to be mastered. Therefore, it is worth managing your strength carefully. The rolling road through the villages of the high plateau invites you to enjoy with its magnificent panorama. The highest point of the route is in Affeier (1290 m above sea level) and from here it goes only downhill. The descent is first leisurely and then fast down to Ilanz.
