Description
The Seebachtal, consisting of the three lakes Hüttwilersee, Nussbaumersee, and Hasensee, is once again a Thurgau island of biodiversity. This was not always the case. Due to the drainage of the lakes' shore areas during the cultivation battle in World War II, the species-rich habitat of the shallow water zones was lost. The founding of the Seebachtal Foundation to protect the lakes put an end to this. After many renaturalizations, numerous animal and plant species now live in the valley again. Nature shows its most beautiful side once more and invites explorations.
The hike leads from the Haag winery in Hüttwilen through the vineyards and then along the renaturalized shoreline zones of the Hüttwilersee and Nussbaumersee. Various bathing spots invite you to jump into the cool water and linger. The mostly free lake accesses are also recommended outside the bathing season: wonderful views of the lakes and infrastructure such as seating, toilets, and barbecue areas are offered.
