From the famous watchmaking village of St-Imier, the path leads through the forest up to the upper station of the funicular on Mont-Soleil. Be sure to stop along the way and enjoy the view from the belvedere of the Vallon de St-Imier and the Chasseral. The path passes a few houses, the solar power plant, and the observatory, which are part of the Energy Discovery Space. From here, follow the Sentier des Monts, which connects the Mont-Soleil solar power plant with the Mont Crosin wind power plant. This educational trail provides information about renewable energies, fauna and flora, climate change, and much more. The trail then descends about 500 meters in elevation to reach Villeret, the destination of this hike. | After crossing the watchmaking village of St-Imier, the trail climbs through the forest to the upper station of the funicular at Mont-Soleil. Along the way, it's worth stopping at the belvedere to enjoy the view of the Vallon de St-Imier and the Chasseral. Following the few houses of Mont-Soleil, one arrives at the solar power plant and the astronomical observatory, which are part of the Energy Discovery Space. From there, the Sentier des Monts is followed, an educational trail linking the Mont-Soleil solar power plant to the Mont Crosin wind power plant, offering games and information about renewable energies, fauna, flora, climate change, geology and weather. The hike finishes with about 500 meters of downhill to get to Villeret, the final stage of the route.
