Description

Just a few steps from the old town of St.Gallen, you dive into another world. The Mülenenschlucht shows the city from its green and wild side. Between old walls and moss-covered rocks, the path leads along the roaring Steinach. The route is short, but steep in some places. At the top, the quiet St.Georgen district awaits with beautiful viewpoints and cafés.

The route is accompanied by a piece of history. According to legend, the Irish monk Gallus stumbled at the lower end of the gorge and fell into a thorn bush. He interpreted this as a divine sign, settled there, and established a hermitage. This was how the monastery of St.Gallen originated and, over time, the present-day city of St.Gallen.
