Mountain bike route Bergli

Description
Don't be fooled by the diminutive – the Bergli loop can be quite challenging. After three longer climbs, you almost break the 1000-meter altitude mark, and the gradient percentages on some short sections should not be underestimated – the support from an electric motor is quite handy there.
The path surface is just as varied (asphalt, gravel, meadows) as the rewarding stops, which are offered at nice regular intervals. At kilometer 5.3, the Swiss flag waving in the wind on the free-standing hill of the Hochwacht (1073 m) reminds you how centuries ago a network of such dominant points alerted to dangers with smoke (by day) and fire (by night) or mobilized troops. At kilometer 12.5, you reach the charming village of St. Peterzell on the middle course of the Necker, where three pilgrimage routes already converged in the 11th century. Numerous historic buildings testify to a certain prosperity, with the richly decorated “red house” on the main road particularly catching the eye.
The unique Neckertal treetop path offers itself as a rest stop at kilometer 22.9. Better still: off the saddle and up on the path. At dizzying heights, you discover the forest from an unusual perspective and learn a lot about forest and nature at 30 learning and experience stations – with all your senses. A large playground, countless picnic tables, and fire pits invite you to linger before the final stretch back to the starting point Degersheim via scarcely used, scenic side roads.
Note(s) Alpine farms / mountain restaurants may not be open daily. Check before the route.
