Description
The Arzo Quarries are a place rich not only in particular rock formations but also in stories and human experiences. For nearly seven centuries, the hard work of quarrymen and stonemasons marked entire generations of the area. To keep the memory alive, the Marble Trail was created, a route among the ancient quarries scattered on the Poncione di Arzo accompanied by educational panels offering interesting insights on various topics related to the quarries.
Among the slopes of the Poncione di Arzo, the Marble Trail leads to the discovery of a landscape shaped by time and human labor. Here, where for centuries quarrymen and stonemasons extracted the precious Arzo marble, nature has slowly reclaimed its space, intertwining with the traces of the ancient activity.
Along the route, educational panels tell the story of the quarries, the extraction techniques, and the life of those who worked there, giving voice to a profession that deeply marked the history of the place.
Walking among the quarries means immersing yourself in a highly evocative environment, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
