Description
A journey into the world of sacred art. Since this art is widespread in the Locarno area, it is no coincidence that valuable paintings can also be found in the most remote places. This first part of the three-day route starts in the village of Maggia, where you can admire the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (bus stop Aurigeno-Moghegno). In the village, you cross the impressive suspension bridge leading to Moghegno and begin the ascent. The first meters are on asphalt, the rest on a dirt road. Once on the trail, the path steadily climbs towards Cortón. At the top, you are welcomed by a large cluster with many houses. In just over an hour you reach the Passo della Garina, which allows passage into the Onsernone Valley. The descent towards Loco passes through various charming hamlets, offers wonderful views, and untouched nature to enjoy the silence. In Loco, you can visit the church of San Remigio with its characteristic frescoes.
