Description
The route is distinguished by the diversity emerging first from the section between Monte Brè and Rivera, then the Malcantone section. Variety and attractiveness of the landscape, vast forest areas and alpine pastures characterize the entire itinerary, while the first part features the ridge stretch between Pairolo and Gola di Lago (a classic for MTB), largely panoramic and presenting three welcoming huts. Malcantone stands out for being immersed in a foothill and mountain zone, with dense forest areas, historic nuclei and testimonies linked to past activities and monuments of historical and artistic interest.
The first half of the itinerary focuses on panorama and green alpine pastures and sparkling streams, the second on an imposing natural oasis. Along the entire route, birch, chestnut and beech forests alternate, both native and introduced species.
The route directly touches some of the most appreciated mountains in the region, Monte Brè, Monte Bar and Monte Tamaro; the ascent by cable car to Monte Lema is also recommended. Four mountains that will offer you various perspectives on a very varied panorama ranging from the city of Lugano and its large lake, the Bernese and Valais Alps, Lake Maggiore, the neighboring Italy, and so on, to discover this region and these endless vistas.
Exciting flowing singletrails alternate ideally with dirt roads and links on paved roads. An offer with naturalistic, panoramic, historical and cultural characteristics! This itinerary exploits the development potential of the regional MTB network by extending it to Malcantone; few cycling routes in Switzerland are this varied.
