Description
The class takes the train to Brugg. Afterwards, the hike starts from Brugg station through the park of Königsfelden Monastery, past the Legionnaire Path up to the Kunz spinning mill. The two spinning mills Kunz and Bebié were among the largest factories in Switzerland during their time of origin. Today, the Kunz area is a newly designed residential and industrial district.
From the Kunz area, the hike continues through idyllic floodplain landscapes in the so-called "Water Castle." Here, the Reuss and Limmat flow into the Aare, and numerous animal and plant species have found their habitat near the shores. In Turgi, another impressive industrial monument comes into view: the Bebié spinning mill, which was the largest spinning mill in Switzerland until 1858. Today, the industrial complex belongs to ABB. Those who have not seen enough can extend the trip with a visit to the Turgi hydropower plant.
