Leiterli - Iffigenalp via Wildhornhütte SAC

The first part of the hike is comfortably covered by the Betelberg gondola and most of the altitude gain is already behind you. From Leiterli, the trail first leads flat along blooming alpine roses towards Steinstoss. Just before reaching Steinstoss, a path branches off to the right. The varied trail then climbs and descends to Stüblenipass and then continues left over the mountain ridge to Tungelpass. At Tungelpass, the trail continues over scree up the Hengstensprung, which has anchored ropes to facilitate the climb. Having overcome the steeper ascent, continue towards the Wildhornhütte. The trail branches off right and leads over a scree field. After bypassing the Niesenhorn, you can soon see the Wildhornhütte SAC and walk the last approx. 15 minutes to the inviting terrace. After an overnight stay at the SAC hut at 2,303 m above sea level, you are refreshed and ready to tackle the descent to the deep blue Iffigsee and then onwards to Iffigenalp. At Iffigenalp, there is an option to stop for refreshments as well as the bus stop to comfortably return to the valley.
