Description

Together with countless bathing spots, charming small towns, great playgrounds, and perfect public transport connections, the Lake Constance cycle route is one of the best ways to discover this Central European gem.

This stage of the Lake Constance cycle route begins in Austrian Bregenz, where the world-famous lakeside stage is located, hosting the Bregenz Festival every summer. The route crosses the Rhine and already at Gaissau switches to Rheineck in Switzerland. Next is the manageable little village of Altenrhein, situated at the mouth of the Old Rhine into Lake Constance. Past the market hall, a work by the world-renowned artist Hundertwasser, the route continues to Rorschach and then along the Swiss Lake Constance shore to the old Roman town of Arbon. The route then continues through the apple-rich canton of Thurgau to Romanshorn, where the largest and most important Swiss Lake Constance port is located.
