Description

The starting point is Sta. Maria. From here a hiking path leads on a forest road through a larch forest up into Val Vau. Here a branch leads to the steep but varied ascent to Lai da Rims, passing an impressive waterfall. After two steep sections, the high plateau with the emerald lake comes into view. From here there are two variants:

Variant 1:

Further on a challenging trail, which finally leads over scree to Piz Umbrail (3032m a.s.l.) and from there on an alpine mountain path back down to Umbrailpass. From the Zoll stop the Postbus goes back to Sta. Maria (Attention: few connections only, check timetable and plan arrival!)

Variant 2:

Further along Lai da Rims and then up to the saddle of Piz Praveder (detour to the summit possible – great view!). From there a stony, sometimes somewhat slippery path leads down into the magnificent Val Mora to the alpine road. This leads over 8 km and 800 meters altitude back to Sta. Maria.
