Description
The Verein Kienberg+ has created and continuously signposted 5 hiking routes around Kienberg. There is a suitable route for every type of hiker: whether point-to-point or circular, with wonderful views or along historic ruins.
Route 4 first leads up to the Burgflue viewpoint, from where you can see as far as the Black Forest.
It then continues south to the Heidegg ruins. Only a few wall remains of the former castle complex remain on a spur. Visible are the deep moat and the castle area with traces of a tower, the bailey, and other buildings.
The descent continues to the nature reserve in the old gypsum quarry, which today is home to many rare warmth- and sun-loving plant and animal species.
Along an idyllic little stream, the hike finally leads to the village of Kienberg.
