Kerenzerberg circular hike

Description
The path starts at Lake Walen and leads along the Meerenbach over the Roman bridge to the Walenguflen hamlet and from there to Obstalden. You are on historic Roman roads, which at that time led from Zurich towards Graubünden and skirted the lake. In Filzbach, a zig-zag path leads down from the very front of the Kerenzerberg pre-Alpine terrace to Lake Walen. The water at the fountain is drinkable. Turn left upon reaching the road. A detour to the left at the bridge is worthwhile: the Gäsi entices with beautiful sandy beaches. Back along Lake Walen, the path passes the Heer bridge fragment: Heer built the first Walensee road on hanging wooden bridges. The history is described at the fragment. Immediately after, stairs go up from the cycle path to the Heerweg (or Geerenweg). This varied and wild stretch runs along the towering rock walls to the Filzbach gorge and on to the former Walensee rest stop. From there, climb a few more meters in altitude to bypass the hamlet of Tiefenwinkel. Along Lake Walen, the route leads comfortably back to Mühlehorn station.
