Description

Welcome to the Interregio hiking trail! Together we hike the border triangle between Switzerland, France and Germany and get to know a fascinating and varied part of Europe! The three major hiking clubs in the region, Wanderwege beider Basel, the Vosges Club and the Black Forest Association, have been jointly managing this cross-border trail since the 1980s, which has now been revised and re-marked, inviting you to discover the three-country region!

The seventh stage starts in Aesch in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. The town lies on the River Birs between the Faltenjura (Blauenkette) and Tafeljura (Gempenplateau). Various castle ruins and the dolmen grave are worth seeing. Today, the largest wine-growing area in the Basel region is located here. Between Hofstetten and the Blauenpass, we hike to the former Rotberg castle in the canton of Solothurn. Immediately afterwards, we reach Mariastein, the most famous place of pilgrimage in north-western Switzerland. The stage finish is Rodersdorf at the terminus of the Basel streetcar line 10.
