Description
Demanding mountain hike from Lauterbrunnen Valley to Kandertal. The mountain trails are continuously and regularly marked with white-red-white paint. Trail signs are present at all junctions. According to the Swiss Alpine Club’s hiking scale, the entire route is classified as a T3 mountain hike. Some sections are secured with ropes, there is a short ladder, many scree and rubble areas, and in some places you need to use your hands for balance (no climbing sections). There are also some exposed passages, and the trail is not always visible on the ground over short stretches. Crossing the Gamchi Glacier, you enter the “eternal ice.” However, the glacier is covered with a thick layer of debris, so ice equipment is not necessary. With surefootedness, good mountain hiking gear, good orientation skills, and basic alpine experience, there is nothing standing in the way of this unique, adventurous, and impressive mountain hike.
