Description
From the Büren train station, walk through the charming small town towards Solothurn to the Aare riverbank path. Then follow the shore of the quietly flowing Aare, covered with reeds, bushes, and trees, until the turnoff to Rüti near Büren. In the pretty village, follow the yellow rhombuses to the signpost at the village edge. Now take the path towards Oberwil. Through the peaceful landscape, you soon reach Oberwil. The Otti Mill with the organic shop is located directly on the hiking trail. Part of the old mill equipment is powered by hydropower, while the more energy-intensive machines are electrically driven. The miller is happy to allow an in-depth tour of the mill and his interesting work. The Otti Mill also participates annually in the Swiss Mill Day, which takes place on the Saturday after Ascension Day. Grain from the region is usually milled on weekdays from mid-August to mid-May. Mill products and other fine organic specialties can be purchased in the organic shop. For larger groups, the Otti family is happy to organize aperitifs on request. After the pleasant stay in the mill park, head back towards Büren to the starting point. The path leads out of the village first across fields and then through the diverse oak forest to Oberbüren. The descent to Büren rewards with impressive views of the Aare landscape and the Jura range. If time permits, it is worthwhile to explore the historic small town in detail.
