Description
The starting point is the stop Böttstein, Birch, slightly elevated above the village. Right from the start, a wide view opens over the gentle hills of Aargau. The path initially leads through open fields and bright forest edges – especially in spring and summer you are accompanied here by a diverse flora.
After a short time, you enter a quieter forest area. The path winds pleasantly through shady sections, accompanied by the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves. Soon you reach the mystical «Nünbrünne», a small, historically significant spring in the middle of the forest. The place seems almost enchanted: Several small water springs emerge here from the ground, and the spot invites you to pause. It was once considered a special place of power – ideal for a short break.
From here, the path gently descends towards Böttstein. The forest gradually thins out, and you return to more open terrain with a view of the Aare valley. Particularly beautiful is the contrast between nature and the first historic buildings of the village.
The end of the hike is a real highlight: the impressive Böttstein Castle. The baroque complex from the 17th century lies picturesquely near the Aare and impresses with its elegant architecture. Today, the castle houses, among other things, a restaurant – perfect to relax and end the hike.
