Description

The terrace on which Sobrio, the starting point of the route, stands dates back to the Ice Age, and from this position you can enjoy an incredible view over the Middle Leventina.

The path starts with a fairly steep climb. After moving mainly through a mixed forest, about 500 meters higher you reach the Cascine area, located in a clearing. Here you are about halfway up the climb: the second part also winds through the forest up to the Bassa dei Cantói, the highest point of the route. You continue along a panoramic path through wide pastures and meadows with joyful colors, surrounded by centuries-old larches.

After crossing gentle slopes, you reach the Pian d'Alpe Hut, surrounded by a pine forest. During the summer season, the refuge is open to the public and here you can taste local specialties as well as stay overnight. The path continues downhill along large hairpin bends until the impressive Vallone Gorge. In an elevated position above the Dragone stream, you proceed again with a slight ascent to return to Sobrio.
