Gimmelen Trail

From the Schilthorn cableway station in Mürren, follow the winter hiking trail up towards Gimmelen to the start of the actual snowshoe trail on the Obere Brüch. The trail now leads flatly uphill through a mystical snow-covered forest to the junction on the Obere Gimmelwalder Allmi. Now you have a choice: either run a loop into the valley over snow-covered pastures and through the forest and past small, sun-baked barns and alpine huts to the Gimmelen restaurant. Or you can take the direct route through the small forest up to the Gimmelen Restaurant. Or you can hike down through the forest to the Gimmelwalder Allmi, from where you have a magnificent view of Gimmelwald and the Upper Lauterbrunnen Valley. For the return from the Gimmelen Restaurant, you can either go back to the junction on the Obere Gimmelwalder Allmi and decide there whether you want to walk to Mürren or Gimmelwald, or alternatively take the prepared winter hiking trail from the Gimmelen Restaurant to Mürren.
