Description

The route is consistently signposted as the Gantrisch Panorama route and the destination Zollhaus is indicated on the signpost at the starting point Gurnigel Berghaus. So the path is easy to find, another success factor. At first, it goes along an alpine road. Here, the view of Lake Thun, Eiger, and Mönch is worthwhile. The Jungfrau, the third peak of the famous trio, hides behind the Stockhorn range. Shortly over an alpine meadow and through forest, you reach the Schüpfeflue passing the Selibüelsattel on level and upward paths. The view over the Central Plateau and the Jura is overwhelming. In good visibility, even the Black Forest can be seen. To the south present themselves Nünenen, Gantrisch, Bürglen, and Ochsen. Initially steep, then more leisurely, the path descends over the Süftenenegg to the Süften Shelter. The following section is particularly attractive: the stormwind Lothar destroyed the forest over a large area. The path on wooden walkways, the Gäggersteg, allows a view over the regrowing forest. It continues in a scenic location along the ridge to the Pfyffe, the Horbül pass, and Oberi Hällstett. Here the view opens to Schwarzsee, Plaffeien, and the western Central Plateau. A panorama board facilitates orientation. With a longer descent, you reach the destination at Zollhaus via Martene. The small last section, after crossing the Sense bridge, lies within the canton of Fribourg.
