Description
Starting from the village of Rossa in Val Calanca, near the historic parish church of San Bernardo, the trail begins to climb the mountain and enters a lush coniferous forest. The vegetation becomes less dense as you approach Alp de Calvaresc Sott where the trees give way to vast meadows. Then continue along the path that climbs to Alp de Calvaresc Sora which is also the most challenging part of the route, as you will need to walk on wet rocks, helping yourself if necessary with chains embedded in the rock. Once the climb is completed, you reach a panoramic terrace from which you enjoy a magnificent view of the peaks of Val Calanca. From here in a short time you arrive at the Lagh de Calvaresc.
When you arrive at Alp de Calvaresc Sott it is also possible to take a path leading to the Capanna Buffalora, the only alpine hut in Calanca managed during the summer period.
