Description

A well-marked trail leads through the two protected areas Hessenberg and Nättenberg. From May to June, numerous orchids appear very close to the path. In July and August, other beauties such as the branched grass lily, the knobby thistle, and the mountain aster are in full bloom. On sunny days, if you keep your eyes open, you might even spot a rare dragonfly butterfly.

Tufted hairgrass pine forests are very rare and mainly occur in the Aargau Jura in Switzerland. The canton of Aargau holds conservation responsibility for this habitat at the European level. At the entrances to the three Pro Natura protected areas Rugen, Hessenberg, and Nättenberg, there is a board with further interesting information. The "Flower Walks" app enables you to get to know over 1000 wild plant species and about 80 habitats on numerous botanical excursions in Switzerland.

The app can be installed on your phone and then used offline. During the excursion, only the location function needs to be activated.
