Description
From the post bus stop Maisprach Dorf, a detour to the village square is worthwhile. Buildings of the winegrowers shape the townscape. Back to the stop, follow the signpost "Gelterkinden" to Rickenbach Höhe. After a short, steep ascent, a flat path section follows, which in spring offers a splendid view of blooming cherry trees and the Maisprach vineyards. Shortly afterward, you walk past the Maisprach bath, where Freiberger horses are bred today. Slightly ascending, after half an hour you reach the scenic Breitfeld and pass orchards to Rickenbach Höhe, which offers a view of the Jura chain. From here, follow the signpost "Farnsburg". Shortly before Waldegg, a large sign is visible in the meadow, commemorating the internment of Polish soldiers in Rickenbach during the Second World War. At the Buuseregg stop, the ascent to Farnsberg begins. After the viewpoint with the rest bench, the path branches off to the left and leads to the Farnsberg plateau. Barbecue areas are available for picnics. The ruin Farnsburg from the 14th century impresses with an extensive castle site with imposing remains of the shield wall and towers. After a 10-minute descent to the Farnsburg estate, you are greeted by the "landscape caretakers in shaggy coats" (Galloway cattle). Pasture pigs also frolic on the meadows. At the upper Homberg begins the steep descent on a paved road to Gelterkinden.
