Best Time of Year
Description
You start the hike from Kloster Fischingen. From there, you cross the Murg bridge and follow the forest road to the gravel pit. Here begins a small ascent into the Schwandholz. For a long stretch, you walk through the forest and along the forest edge to Kreuzhof. Here you turn right into the woods to reach Rotbühl. From Rotbühl to Allenwinden, the path leads along the asphalt road. From there, via Hohlenstein, follows the steep ascent to the ridge, with 991 m above sea level, the highest elevation in Thurgau. Once at the top, you enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Toggenburg. Between the ridge and St. Iddaburg, you see the deep gorge of the Murg with its rugged rock walls.
Next follows the descent to Höll, further over the ridge to Ottenegg. There you will find the statue of Mary, which commemorates the founding of the orphanage at Kloster Fischingen. The path leads you through the forest to Neuschür and finally back to Fischingen. A visit to the Benedictine Monastery Fischingen is worthwhile.
